Our Roman Holiday

Ahhhh Roma!  This was my absolute most favorite vacation we've ever been on as a family. It was beautiful, relaxing and so much fun!!! The first time I went to Rome I was 16 years old. My amazing mama and grandparents gave me a trip to Italy for my birthday. I fell in LOVE <3 Now I live in Italy and I was super excited to be able to share this country of Romance with my husband.

Day 1:  The Colosseum and the Roman Forum! I was excited about this because the last time we didn't get to go inside so this time it was a must! It was amazing! Built in only 8 years this amphitheater could seat 50,000 (in 10 minutes!) That's a lot of people! Seeing the movie Gladiator helped to envision the way things used to be. The Roman forum was so cool because I could just picture it being busy with people selling stuff at the markets and going about their daily life. After that we headed passed the Piazza Venezia and to the center to see the Pantheon. It's amazing that this building got all it's light from the hole in the roof ( before electricity). We didn't stay long because they closed early for the holiday and we happened to get there like 5 minutes after it closed. Next stop.... Fontana de Trevi!!! This was the most important stop for me. I didn't get to go last time because my mom made me go to bed ;p It was so beautiful and my pictures do it absolutely no justice! Next time we go back we'll go back at night to see it all lit up. SOO beautiful! Andres and I already have all we need and more so we made wishes for other people <3 We walked through the famous shopping street Via Dei Condetti where we could never even think about shopping. It was nice to look though! It was so rich the Christmas decorations were from Mercedes Benz. After drooling over all the beautiful shoes and clothes that were no cheaper than 500 euro we made it to the Piazza di Spagna where the Spanish steps are located. The Spanish steps were a nice place to sit and take pictures. The sun was starting to go down and it was getting cooler so we decided to head to our last destination before heading home for the day. We walked past the race track from Ben-Hur where the chariots raced. I've never seen the movie but that's just what I was told. It doesn't look like much goes on there now. The final destination of the night was La Bocca della Verita ( the mouth of truth). Don't stick your hand in here if you've lied that day or you may lose your hand! jk! But it was still awesome to see it and feel a little bit of Audrey. <3 her!!!
I was trying to be a statue but then some lady started yelling at me.

Day 2: This day was a pretty easy day. We only had 3 places we wanted to see but each of them took a while to go through. First stop was the Vatican Museum. It's amazing to see all the hard work artists put into making the Vatican the place that it is. The art work is just so beautiful! It took us about 2 hours to make it through the whole thing. Next was St. Peter's Basilica. HUGE! After the Vatican we saw Castel Sant Angelo. We didn't go inside this one because we hear there's nothing too exciting inside. It's mostly a tomb. Maybe we'll go in next time. Before heading home we stopped off one more time at the Pantheon so we could go inside. It was amazing! I was wondering how the place didn't flood with all the rain Italy gets. There's just 4 little holes to drain all the rain that goes through the hole in the roof!

That was our trip! It's hard to describe how truly amazing everything was but I hope you enjoyed our pictures!I can't wait to go back and see even more of Roma! No matter how many times you go somewhere you can always find something you didn't see before.

I wanna see your Peacock....

Look what I got!!!!!
I'm so esited!!! I sat for hours today trying to figure out which colors to use first. Then I saw the blues and greens and decided something NEEDED to be done with these colors. I searched pinterest for some suggestions and found this awesome idea! PEACOCK colors!! DUH!

So here's what I came up with...

                Peacock!!
Next time I will add some purple to the mix. I'm still learning how to apply eyeshadow. I think I've gotten my face makeup how I want it so now it's time to learn the eyes. I need work on blending and brush use.

Much learning to do.

Fashion inspiration/experimentation

It's hard to be girly and cute when you're living in a refrigerator. Or at least that's what my house feels like. The radiators don't work for crap so during the week I'm wearing as many layers as I can to keep warm. It's not pretty....

The weekends are pretty exciting for me. It's usually the time Andres and I get out to run errands and get things done. But most importantly it's me getting out of the house. Hooray!!!

So, I will be posting outfit pictures to share my latest looks. I'm pretty proud of myself :) Big change from that girl that left Texas over 3 years ago.

I have been watching a lot of makeup tutorials because I LOVE LOVE LOVE makeup. I like to think I'm getting much better at applying it!

Everything worn in this picture besides the shoes are Forever21. The shoes are from the BX.

This is my favorite kind of outfit for fall. I love tights and skirts. Especially with some cute boots. My style inspirations have been all over the place. Yesterday was a little more girly than most. I think it started with the bun. I felt very chic with it.  I've been into the native american look with the tribal prints. More so now that I got my Minnetonkas! My second favorite look has been kinda Rock N Roll. I have some pretty amazing red jeans that I'm sure you'll see soon. Perfect for my motorcycle boots and jacket!

It's been hard shopping overseas because the bx is more expensive than I'd like to pay but it's hard for me to find European clothes that fit well. These people are twigs! My favorite stores out here so far are H&M and Tally Weijl.

My new fall Favorite!

I am in LOVE with my newest buy. My Minnetonka Moccasins!!! I recommend these to anyone. They are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn and I love them oh so much!! The first time I put them on I wore them all day and didn't even want to take them off for bed. I hate wearing shoes if I don't have to but I absolutely didn't want to take them off. These cuties caught my eye end of winter last year but it was just too wet to wear them in Germany so I told myself I'd for sure get them this year. At first I wanted the tall ones with the 5 layers of fringe but then I saw these and I thought they were perfect for me. I can wear them in the cold AND warm seasons!!! They will look so cute with my summer dresses :) But the tall ones will definitely be my next purchase.

<3

Our first outfit together

I love these shoes so much and I can't wait to see what other outfits I come up with to compliment these shoes! My suggestion to anyone wanting to get these shoes is if you're a 7 1/2 get a 7. I got an 8 and these are a little big. Makes more room for big fuzzy socks in the winter!

Love and Moccasins,

Don't rain on my parade

It's been a rainy few day this weekend. Yesterday was our family pajama day. That's always lots of fun but today I NEEDED to get out. The weekends it usually my only time to see the outside world because Andres has the van during the week and by the time he gets home it's dark and no fun. So today we went to the Antique market in Aviano. I wish I would have taken pictures of the stuff but I always get intimidated by the people at the tables and don't know if they'd allow it. We saw so many ollllllld cameras and lots of cool stuff for the house. Even saw one of those old school manual pencil sharpeners they had at school on the walls. You know the one where you could changed the hole for pencil size?! I should have bought it hahaha. I hope they have another market soon because there was so much cool stuff and I'll go better prepared next time. I'm an idiot and left my euro at home. Oops!

Anyway, I bought some awesome new rainboots and today was the perfect day to wear them! Yay for motorcycle rain boots!!  I wanted to be comfy for walking around so here's my outfit for the day.

I see many more pictures in this chaise lounge. Pinup photo shoot?!

Played with makeup this morning. I wanted to keep it bright for this yucky day.

Yucky day.

Ciao for now!

Happy Birthday to my Hubby!!

Today is Andres's Birthday!!! YAY 25th birthday! Now he's an old fart!! JK!  In our house we get the whole weekend for birthday weekend (except for me. I get a week ;))!! Just wanted to wish him Happy day of birth again! Thanks Mum and Ded for making the perfect husband for me :)

My Handsome Birthday Boy! <3

Friday we loaded up on junk food for the weekend and pretty much camped out in the living room. Lots of Singstar, Mario Kart, and Mortal Kombat. Just what the birthday boy wanted. Today we were supposed to go  bowling but I fell and hurt my wrist so we took the kids to the park instead.

I love you Hun One! I hope you got the birthday you were hoping for!

Grey skies are gonna clear up so put on a happy face :)

It's so ugly outside today. The weather people said it'll be like this all day. Even through the ugliness I can't help but smile. I was supposed to write this forever ago but it's been pretty crazy around here trying to finish the house.

October 7th I was having a hard time sleeping thanks to jet lag. Andres had come home from dropping a friend off so he could borrow her car. He took me outside where he had a comfy blanket set and decided since were both up we'd sit outside and watch the sunrise together. <3  Oh how he takes my breath away. :)

 Patiently waiting...

Unfortunately it was a yucky, rainy day out. That didn't matter though because it was just us. Just us, the rain.... and some Roosters.  The sun never came up but Andres and I had he best time together. It was the most relaxing morning we had in MONTHS. We sat outside for about an hour or more but the sky wasn't clearing up and I was finally getting tired so we called it a morning. Best morning EVER.

It was the perfect morning.

Gloomy sad day...

Turned into one of the most beautiful days I've seen here.

Put on a happy face!

Getting Settled

I am soooo in LOVE with this place. IT's absolutely beautiful here. Germany was beautiful but this is just different. The culture and the people. It's just so different and I love it!

First let me talk about the drive here. Ive been on many road trips in my life but this was by far the best. I was dreading the 10 hour drive but I would do it again any day. It was breathtaking. Ten hours of beautiful scenery. Andres and I were never bored. Beautiful tall green trees, rolling hills, and lots of vineyards. I wish I could have taken pictures but I drove until we got out of country. Then there was Austria. We passed a big lake full of gorgeous sail boats and mountain after beautiful mountain! Some even had snow on top! It was so hot! How is that possible?! This lil Texas girl was in awe of the beautiful mountains. Everything is so flat in San Antonio! The boys love love loved driving through the mountains.

We got into Aviano around 8pm and I have to be honest.... I HATED it! It was too country for me and I thought the drive into Aviano was just too gorgeous to end up here. Too many cornfields and it just looked deserted. Our hotel was great though. It was like a cute little apartment. We ate dinner and quickly went to bed. It was a LONG day. Waking up the next day, I was still a little iffy about Aviano. It wasn't the Italy I remembered from when I was 16. We went on base and it made me so sad. Coming from Ramstein AFB where they have the biggest BX in the world to Aviano where the BX is so small it's connected to the commissary. They barely had anything!

Day 3 came and I finally saw Italy and fell in love. The mountains are so beautiful here. UGH! It's just indescribable! It was also the day we found our house!!! I saw it online and it had to be mine. I didn't even want to look at other houses. I just knew this was the one. We were so excited that we showed up to our appointment 2 hours early and thank God we did because another couple showed up right as we were dropping the contract off with the realtor.

The house is ours!!! We are comfortably in our house trying to get all our house stuff where it needs to be. I have so many ideas for this house.

My amazing terrace that will be used for many BBQs
                                                      My house <3
I absolutely love this view :)

Auf Wiedersehn Deutschland Buon Giorno Italia!

I've been wanting to make a blog for-eh-ver but never knew what to write about. I love reading blogs and was super inspired by my friend Vanessa and her blog. But now we're in.... ITALY!!!! There is so much going on so I'm going to write about it!!! This blog will be about our time and adventures in Italy or wherever we go. It will motivate me to get out and not be such a home body so I can share more with you.

Germany feels like so long ago but really it's only been 2 months. I don't think I really appreciated my time there until the end. Especially after we left. It was our first real home as a family. Being away from home was really hard, especially for me. It brought us so much closer together and helped us grow. We made so many amazing friends though. They became our family away from family and I will love them forever.

Our time in Germany has ended but I will always have the memories. We got to travel to some amazing places and I know it never would have happened if  it weren't for the military moving us away. We didn't get to ravel as much as I would have liked.(It didn't help that Andres was away with work a lot.) But things are different now!! No more TDYs or deployments! Time to get out and see ITALIA!!!! I look forward to our future travels and making new family away from family. So stay tuned for our new adventures of Bex & Co.! I can't wait to share more with you!
